Support That Begins Before Labor

Our work together begins during pregnancy so that labor does not feel like the first time we are figuring everything out. Prenatal visits give us time to talk through your hopes, concerns, previous experiences, care-provider conversations, and the type of environment you want for your birth.

Depending on your package, preparation may include childbirth education, a personalized birth-preferences document, comfort-measure practice, partner coaching, postpartum planning, and ongoing check-ins. The goal is not to control every detail. It is to help you understand what may happen, recognize your options, and feel more confident if plans change.

What Birth Doula Care Can Include

  • Personalized prenatal visits focused on your needs and questions
  • Education about labor stages, common procedures, and comfort options
  • Help creating clear, flexible birth preferences
  • Hands-on practice with positions, counterpressure, massage, movement, breathing, and relaxation
  • Guidance that helps your partner feel useful, calm, and connected
  • On-call availability surrounding your estimated due date
  • Continuous emotional and physical support during active labor and birth
  • Support communicating questions and preferences to your care team
  • Immediate postpartum support and a follow-up visit

Your Partner Still Has an Essential Role

A doula does not replace your partner. Your partner knows you, loves you, and brings a connection no one else can. I bring knowledge of labor, practical comfort techniques, and a calm outside perspective. Together, we create a stronger support team so your partner does not have to remember everything or carry the entire responsibility alone.

Support for the Birth You Want and the Birth You Have

I support hospital, birth-center, and home-birth families, including first-time parents, VBAC families, clients hoping for an unmedicated birth, and clients who plan to use pain medication. You will receive respectful support without judgment. If your preferences change during labor, my role is to help you stay informed, grounded, and involved in the decisions being made.

Doula care is non-medical. I do not diagnose conditions, perform clinical tasks, or make decisions for you. I work alongside your doctor, midwife, and nurses while remaining focused on your emotional comfort, physical coping, understanding, and voice.

A Bilingual, Family-Centered Approach

Complete services are available in English and Spanish. When faith is meaningful to your family, I am also honored to incorporate prayer or faith-sensitive encouragement into your care at your request.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I hire a birth doula?

Many families begin their search during the second trimester, but it is always worth asking about availability, even if your due date is close.

When will you join me during labor?

We will stay in communication during early labor and decide together when in-person support would be most helpful, based on your preferences, coping, labor pattern, and birth location.

Will you speak to my provider for me?

I will help you identify questions, understand information, and communicate your preferences. I do not make medical decisions or speak over you; I help create space for your voice to be heard.
